Section 312 FACT Act Integrity & Accuracy Compliance: Deadline July 1, 2010
The Agencies (OCC, FRB, FDIC, OTS, NCUA, and FTC) have released final rules for FACTA Section 312 which requires strict compliance for furnishers of consumer credit information to National Credit Reporting Agencies (NCRA). This Section also allows consumers to dispute credit information directly with the bank that reported the information. Bottom line, this section aims to improve the accuracy and integrity of information as well as give consumers a new right to dispute data included in reports directly with the company that furnished it, hence the name Fair and Accurate Credit Transaction Act (FACTA).
